Pre to 3: Home-Visiting Program

The Pre to 3 program is in partnership with the Vanderburgh Health Department and is a voluntary home-visiting program designed to support families from the beginning of pregnancy to their child’s 3rd birthday. A team of Community Health Workers (CHW) and registered nurses provide weekly visits utilizing the Growing Great Kids™ curriculum to provide support and resources for building a health family.

Anyone that is pregnant or has an infant under 90 days old can join the program, which includes first time mothers, mothers with multiple children, fathers, grandparents, foster parents, same-sex couples, and single parents. The program is open to residents of Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson and Posey counties.

Financial Assistance for Child Care and Car Repair

If you live in Vanderburgh County and are having difficulty paying for child care or your car needs repaired, the Vanderburgh County Initiative Based Assistance Program (Gatekeeper and Safety Net) could help. Program Requirements:

  • Must be a Vanderburgh County Resident.
  • Must be working at least 25 hours per week, attending school full-time (12 credit hours or more), or a combination of the two and meet eligibility guidelines.
  • For Child Care Assistance (Gatekeeper): You must be the parent/guardian of a child 13 years or younger who lives with you. Available for maximum of one year only.
  • For Car Repair Assistance (Safety Net): Vehicle must be registered in Vanderburgh County and in applicant’s name.Available one time.  Max of $1,000 assistance available.

Safe Sleep Information

According to the Indiana Department of Health, “In Indiana, 2 babies die every week in unsafe sleep environments. In 2017, more Indiana babies died from unsafe sleep than all children killed in vehicles collisions, from 0-18 years of age.” Click here to learn more about how you can keep sleeping babies safe and hear from Sarah Broady who lost her daughter to unsafe sleep practices.
