Programs & Services

The Pre to 3 program, in partnership with the Vanderburgh Health Department, is a voluntary home-visiting program designed to support families during pregnancy and until the baby is 3 years old. A Community Health Worker (CHW) visit the family each week and used the Growing Great Kids™ curriculum to provide support for building a healthy family.

Known to many families as “the voucher program”, the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) is a federal program created to help low-income families obtain child care so they can work, attend training, or continue their education. The purpose of CCDF is to increase the availability, affordability and quality of child care.

Gatekeeper (VCIBAP) The Initiative Based Assistance Program (IBAP) or Gatekeeper is funded by Vanderburgh County government and helps families by providing assistance with child care expenses and barriers to work or school such as car repair.

The Child & Adult Care Food Program offers reimbursement to child care providers for serving nutritious meals that meet USDA requirements. Many different providers operate CACFP and share the common goal of bringing nutritious meals and snacks to participants.

CCR&R, Child Care Resource and Referral agencies provide local, helpful services to families, child care providers and communities in several ways.

Families can find information about the different types of child care available locally. Agencies focus on meeting your specific needs. Additionally, they can share characteristics of a quality child care program and connect families to community resources.

Community Members and Organizations can learn about the supply and demand for child care. That includes information on the types of programs available and types of programs parents are asking for. Importantly, they can also help you explore the gaps between the two.

Child Care Referrals help parents take the guesswork out of choosing child care by providing tips on choosing care, information about Paths to QUALITY™ , and free referrals to local legally operating child care providers.
